"A product of long-term research in the country, Spanish Society After Franco traces the evolution of welfare during the various manifestations of the Spanish state: from the early nineteenth century to the current democracy negotiated from the mid-1970s, after the demise of the long authoritarian regime under Franco. Throughout, the differing positions of political parties, workers' movements and the key role played by the church and associated elites are investigated.
