One cannot precisely date the arrival of the first tapestry workshops, but it is known that they appeared in the Central region of France after the Hundred Years War. Very quickly, the three workshops in the region, including Bellegarde, Aubusson and Felletin, demonstrated the quality of their work, and the edict of 1581 allowed them throughout France.
