Koyukon Athabaskan Dictionary

This reference draws upon the extensive Koyukon vocabulary and grammatical materials recorded by Jesuit missionary and scholar Jules Jette from 1898 to about 1922, as well as the extensive information recorded by Koyukon scholar Eliza Jones from 1974 through 1999. The introduction presents biographical essays on the co-authors and articles about the Koyukon language area, dialects, sound system, history of the language work, and a summary of the contents. The main section contains 1,778 entries and sub-entries for about 8,800 vocabulary items that cover all aspects of Koyukon life, as well as about 2,700 mini-essays and descriptive comments by Jette, 90-plus illustrations (drawings, diagrams, and bandw photographs), and additional cultural and grammatical comments by Jones, expert speakers and specialists.
