About
"TARARA je riječ novozelandskih Maora koja označuje Hrvate, pripadnike etničke skupine s kojom su Maori bili u bliskome "dodiru" krajem 19. i početkom 20. stoljeća na novozelandskim kopalištima kauri smole. Maori tom riječju označuju i zemlju iz koje su Hrvati došli u Aotearou (Novi Zeland), pa se tako na maorskom zemljovidu između Italije, Austrije i Mađarske nalazi zemlja Tarara. Neobični "susreti" Hrvata i Maora, uglavnom Dalmatinaca i pripadnika maorskih plemena Te Aupouri, Ngati Kuri, Ngati Kahu i Te Rarawa, odisao je u početku nesporazumima, strahovima i podsmjesima, i počivao je na teškome radu i kolonijalnoj eksploataciji Novog Zelanda. Postupno taj je "susret" prerastao u stvaranje maorsko-hrvatske zajednice na Novom Zelandu." --
