Edition by Isaac Preston Cory (1802-1842) of texts by, i.a., the Phoenician author Sanchoniathon, whose three works only survived as fragments recorded by Eusebius, who quoted from a translation of Philo of Byblos. An 1876 revised edition by Edward Richmond Hodges eliminates Cory’s preface as ‘outdated’, and also the ‘Neoplatonic forgeries’ at the end – Oracles of Zoroaster, Hermetic Creed, and Orphic, Pythagorean, and other fragments ‘of doubtful authenticity and little value.’
