"The purpose of the workshop was to consider the basis of New Zealand's foreign policy in the post-Cold War context and to discuss our place within the process of globalisation now taking place. Communication with policy-makers, officials, parliamentary representatives, political candidates and the public was envisaged at the earliest stages of planning, so that the outcome of the weekend's deliberations could be debated before the coming election....
