About
Richard l'Estourmy or Esturmy, companion of William the Conqueror, came to England at the Conquest, and was granted lands in England after the Battle of Hastings. Several times subsequently, the family survived only with daughters, who married into other Norman families in England (some with anglicized surnames). In general the descen- dants were part of the English nobility.
