First of 2 volumes in 8vo. ff. [2], pp. liii, [1], 216. Half morocco. Ownership inscription by Charlotte v. d. Wever [?] on half title.
A Dutch translation of the novel first published in English by E. de Saint-Maurice Cabany (1855) who claimed that he had discovered it in a writing desk belonging to Scott. The translation is by the Rotterdam-based Johannes Baptist Rietstap (1828-1891), who, early on in his career, translated historical and romantic novels, non-fiction works, and travelogues, after which he shifted his focus to heraldry of Dutch and European families.
