La narrativa contestataria y social de Gaby Vallejo Canedo

There is no doubt that Gaby Vallejo Canedo is the most acclaimed Bolivian writer of recent years, a privilege that has won her many national and international prizes. Known and lauded in these two areas, within the country she has been given the distinction of being the ambassador of Bolivian literature. Gaby Vallejo is a complex woman: versatile, feminist, brave, but children occupy a special place in her heart. She is the great promoter of children's and youth literature in Bolivia. Together with Yolanda Bedregal, Gaby Valleojo is the pioneer of the contemporary Bolivian novel, but written from the point of view of women. Her concern for national politics is inscribed in her first novels, The Vulnerable, Son of Opa!, and The sierra begins in a queue, texts that codify the times of the urban guerrilla, who courageously prosecute those in power, those who hide behind their social position, while exposing their excesses and corruption. Her narrative coincides with the development of the history of the Spanish American novel: from the new experimental novel of the Boom, of multiple narrative strategies, to the so-called Post-Boom, the literary mode that leaves the narrative complexity to give rise to a reading literature easier, but readerly. The literary importance of Gaby Vallejo is not only national, but international, as this monograph proves, which contains essays sent from the US, Argentina and Mexico.
