Red Mars and Other Poems From September 11th and Other Places is a collection of poems that started on September 11, 2001 in the aftermath of the infamous terrorist attacks. Like many people in the New York metropolitan area, the author alternated between shock and rage and a host of other emotions on that terrible day. Writing was one way to relieve the pent-up frustration. Red Mars and Other Poems From September 11th and Other Places is one person's reaction to that day's tragic events and the days, months, and years following. Based on observation and imagination, it is divided into three parts: the first relates to the shock of the catastrophe and the days following; the second part to the weeks and months afterwards; and the third, a more universal look at the passage of time and healing. The poems range from the traditional to the unorthodox.
