Frank Gowen's Vancouver

This award-winning biography by respected postcard historians Fred Thirkell and Bob Scullion pays tribute to photographer Frank Gowen, one of British Columbia's greatest artistic eyes. The book focuses on the life and selected works of Frank Gowen, whose images and name will always be synonymous with the photographic history of Greater Vancouver. Gowen came to Vancouver during the First World War and established himself as "the Stanley Park photographer". Although he travelled throughout British Columbia, many of his finest images are from the parks, streets, and historic sites of the Lower Mainland. Gowen's Greater Vancouver extended from White Rock to the Sunshine Coast, as he explored the playgrounds, edifices, and landmarks of a vibrant West Coast community.
