공자를 중심으로 선후 열성列聖의 도통道統을 서술한 책이다. 권두에 1501년 저자의 친구인 유서劉瑞가 쓴 서문과 사탁謝鐸의 ｢독공자통기서讀孔子通紀序｣가 있다. 권1은 ｢전기前紀｣ 상하로 공자 이전 성현에 대한 기록이고, 권2-4는 ｢정기正紀｣ 상중하로 공자의 연보, 권5-8는 ｢후기後紀｣ 상중하로 공자의 제자와 이후의 유자儒者에 대한 기록 및 공자의 세계世系 등이 실려 있다. 1625년(인조 3) 장성현長城縣에서 간행하였다.
