About
This massive 3-volume history of nearly 1,900 pages follows the pattern often used in County histories around the turn of the 20th century. The first volume is the history, which contains brief biographical info for a large number of the early residents. The second and third volumes are devoted to biographical sketches, mostly of people who were living at the time of publication in 1910. The purpose of this approach was to sell books to the people within, and possibly also to charge people for including biographies of them. The list of illustrations is 3 pages long. The index, which includes both subjects and persons, is located after the Table of Contents at the front of Volume 1.
