About
Valentine of Saint-Point Dead in Cairo in 1953, in utter destitution, Valentine Saint-Point has long been relegated to the shadows of art history. This extraordinary experimenter - who frequented Rodin, Mucha, Marinetti and Canudo, wrote the Manifesto of the Futurist Woman (1912) and the Futurist Manifesto of Lust (1913), revolutionized the choreography by founding a new dance (La Métachorie), he became fascinated with theosophy, and eventually settled in Egypt and moved closer to Islam, while embracing the anticolonialist cause - had literally disappeared from memory. Who was Valentine of Saint-Point? At best she was remembered only as a great-niece of Lamartine who was decidedly eccentric ... After a half-century eclipse, this artistic experience at the crossroads of avant-garde and European modernist trends gradually return to the light: Valentine Saint-Point now appears as a key figure in the artistic creation of the early twentieth century.
