André Gide et l'aphorisme

How to understand the omnipresence of the aphoristic style in an author anxious to keep away any posture as a moralist and, even more, any moralizing intention? The study of the work of André Gide (fictional, critical and personal), considered in its specificity, but also representative of a period style, allows to overcome, in three complementary ways, this apparent paradox. A paragon of a stylistic ideal defined by conciseness, firmness and precision, aphorism also contributes, as a staging of a general idea, to the renewal of genres; Finally, it reflects and questions the problematic issue of the writer's relationship to the construction of a position and an authority in literature.
