About
This is a biography of Harry Bedwell, the author of roughly 60 railroad short stories (and one novel, *The Boomer*,1942) in the years from 1908 - 1955. He was the creator of the much-loved character "Eddie Sand", a boomer telegrapher (as was Harry Bedwell, himself), as well as many other characters that readers followed in various publications (Railroad Man's Magazine, Railroad Stories,Railroad Mag., Saturday Evening Post, Argosy, Adventure, and many others) over that almost fifty year period. This bio. covers Bedwell's full life, and the book includes a fully detailed Bibliography of Bedwell's work. Donovan also includes a chapter on what he called, the "Railroad School" in American Liturature. Here, he mentions, briefly, a couple of dozen authors (and some their works) who wrote in the period from the 1890s through the 1950s (when the book was published). Finally, there is a General Bibliography which covers this book as a whole.
