About
When Violet DuBay’s best friend Khloe confides that her dad is practicing an illegal religion, Violet knows their duty is to turn him in to the Constabulary. But as a member of his household, Khloe would be sent to re-education too, and she’s not about to ruin her upcoming senior year. Though Violet isn’t a blood relative, she spends more hours there than at home. Doing the right thing will mean the loss of her surrogate family. Clay Hansen persuades his family to join him at an underground church meeting and brings Violet, his teen daughter’s best friend. That night, the church is raided. He and his wife escape, but in the chaos, he loses Violet and Khloe. How can he find them while the Constabulary monitors his every move? After the church raid she set into motion, Violet stumbles into an opportunity to infiltrate the Christian resistance. Her mission grows ever more complicated as she gets to know a man named Marcus, a woman named Lee, and others—each with a perspective she never expected. Meanwhile Clay’s mission to locate his daughter and Violet grows desperate with the passing days. He once credited God with sparing Khloe. But if God won’t step in now, Clay will do the saving himself.
