Summary: Van 29 april tot en met 31 augustus 2009 exposeert Stadsarchief en Athenaeumbibliotheek onder de titel 'De propagandaoorlog' een indrukwekkende verzameling oorlogsaffiches en verzetsdrukwerk (1940-1945) uit haar collectie. Bij de expositie verschijnt dit gelijknamige boek. In deze rijk geïllustreerde uitgave besteden de auteurs in het bijzonder aandacht aan de interactie tussen enerzijds de nationaalsocialisten en anderzijds de illegaliteit en de geallieerden. Een afzonderlijk hoofdstuk is gewijd aan de clandestiene uitgaven van drukkerij De IJsel. Deze Deventer drukker maakte in de oorlogsjaren prachtig verzorgde uitgaven in opdracht van Amsterdamse uitgevers.
