About
"First investigated by a British mission in 1906/07, excavations on the monumental site of Athribis in Upper Egypt were resumed by the Sūhāǧ Inspectorate of the Egyptian Antiquities Organization in 1981 and conducted until 1996. In 2003, a German-Egyptian mission directed by the editors of this volume together with Christian Leitz, started a joint project devoted to the documentation and conservation of the Athribis monuments. This volume is the first archaeological report published in the Ifao series devoted to the site. It contains: 1. A chapter on the history of the site and its exploration, 2. A general plan of the site, 3. A detailed plan of the ‘Temple of Ptolemy XII’ dedicated to Min and Repit, 4. An in-depth study and detailed documentation of the architecture and inscriptions of the ‘Gate of Ptolemy IX’, 5. A comprehensive conservation study of the limestone monuments of Athribis."--
