Inverting the Pyramid

This report, commissioned by the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth, presents a systems-based approach to child protection. It examines factors in the child protection system that could facilitate a shift across organisational and child protection systems towards the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and at the same time reducing demand on tertiary child protection services. The report examines best practice examples from the UK, USA and Australia, identifying several key elements such as shared vision, building a supportive culture, integrated governance arrangements and legislative support. These elements are required to move child protection systems towards a more preventative focus.
