About
Published in this volume are the transcription and interpretation of the texts and emblems of two of the books 17th century Italian priest Filipo Picinelli wrote: volume 13 "The Metals" with which the author concludes his series of a major study of the "Natural World" and volume 14 "Eclesiastical Instruments", the first of the series of his study of the "Artificial World". Both books are the beginning and the end and represent the main sections of the "Mondo Simbolico", (Milan, 1653) the monumental encyclopedia of metal and ecclesiastical emblems used in the artistic and literary production in Europe and the Americas during the 17th and 18th centuries.
