About
The main aim of this book is to provide a sound knowledge of pathology by understanding the disease mechanisms which lay the foundation for basic science. This book consists of 17 chapters and is organized into three sections namely “Basics of Pathology”, “General Pathology”, and “Immunopathology”. Section 1—Basics of Pathology: It provides an overview of the basic knowledge and consists of chapters namely cell as a structural unit, cellular activation, maintaining cell populations, extracellular matrix, and basics of genetics. Section 2—General Pathology: It consists of introduction to pathology, cellular responses to injury, adaptation and cell death, inflammation and healing, hemodynamic disorders, thromboembolism and shock, neoplasia, infections and infestations, genetic disorders and molecular pathology, diseases of infancy and childhood, and environmental and nutritional diseases. Section 3—Immunopathology: It deals with normal immune response and hypersensitivity, autoimmune diseases and rejection of tissue transplants, and immunodeficiency diseases and amyloidosis. Numerous illustrations, gross photographs, photomicrographs, tables, text boxes, flowcharts, and X-rays have been incorporated for easy understanding of the subject.
