Sometimes all we have left are our memories. To create a balance between good and evil, God charges a new section of Angels with the collection of the souls of man. These Angels are Reapers. On Earth, a farm boy named Gabriel knows only hard work, the love of his mother, and the light of life. He knows nothing of God until the cruel acts of man hand down their interpretation of the word of God. Barely escaping with his life, Gabriel begins to see the dark in the world. But where there is darkness, there is also light-light that is greater than Gabriel has ever known. Her name is Anna. Gabriel will learn the secret of the Reapers, but the price will be much too high.
