About
This volume introduces vital information on the Ngo Cho (Five Ancestor) style of kung-fu from Fukien, in Southeastern China. A composite art, Ngo Cho is a unique blend of hand strikes from the Fukien white crane system, footwork from Buddhist monk boxing, kicking techniques from the grand ancestor style, agility from the monkey system, and iron body training from the Bodhidharma method. Fundamental techniques and their fighting applications are completely illustrated, along with two major forms: Sam Chien, the three wars sequence and, for the first time in print, Song Sui, the double banner set. Compelling information on the historical link between kung-fu and karate is presented, and a section on lineage history traces the journey of this unique martial system from mainland China to other corners of the world. Author Jose G. Paman is a practitioner and teacher of Grandmaster Lo Yan Chu’s Kong Han lineage of Ngo Cho kung-fu, as taught by Master Co Chi Po. He also holds advanced instructor degrees in arnis, karate and jujitsu. Paman works full-time for a government agency in California. He is also a founding member of the Polynesian music and dance group Uncle Pete’s Shipwreck Crew.
