Forts covered include Machias, Knox, St. George's, Edgecomb, Popham and Baldwin, and McClary with one chapter devoted to each. The final two chapters discuss the Indians and their wars and details about fortifications in Maine. There is also an extensive list of all forts in Maine with pertinent info on each. Book is nicely illustrated with black and white photographs and small drawings showings plans. Also discussed are forts on North and South Sugar Loaf Islands
