A World of Darkness

Harvey and Sarah are living a happy and quiet live in the hillside. When Sarah gets ill old Harv is looking affectionately after his wife. But some day the world outside is somewhat different. It begins with the television transmitters failing to broadcast programs, then the electrical power supply drops out and the phone falls silent, too. A grey haze covers the land. A deceiving silence lays over the fields and the house. At night Harvey believes to hear creatures creeping around the house. And a short encounter with one of these creatures in the garden brings him the terrible certainty that he hadn't been just imagining. Harvey decides to learn what the hell had happened to the world. So he climbs into his rusty van and drives over to his old friend Murphy, who a few miles down the road runs a small grocer's shop. But this one already seems to have gone mad… It's so dark and melancholic and yet a real page-turner. Wow! The subliminal, ongoing threat that from the very first page runs through the book is characterized so perfectly.
