About
The distinguished Special Publications of the IAS continue with a volume of 23 papers presented at the Third International Research Symposium on Modern and Ancient Clastic Tidal Deposits. The contributions examine tidal sediments from a wide geographical range, analysing depositional environments, processes and facies. The case studies cover the geological time scale from the present to the Carboniferous, environments from micro- to macrotidal settings, and dimensions from microscopic scales involving the reconstruction of tidal rhythms in the growth lines of bivalve shells, to macroscopic scales assessing the tidal influence in a river delta hundreds of square kilometres in extent.
