Gilt spine title, shelving number stamped on spine. Stamp of J.G.Mazziotti Salema Garção, arms of the Medici as title vignette and manuscript dates 1752, 1827 on title page, marginal doodles, printer’s devices on verso of last leaf. 

First edition, with the first published exposure of the ‘Decretum Desiderii,’ a supposed edict of the Lombard King Desiderius, c.770, favouring Pope Hadrian I over Charlemagne, as an Annian forgery (see Bib# 4173306/Fr# 196 in this collection for its first printing).
