First appearance of this narrative, the complete ten parts as serialized in The Wide World Magazine, v.1 no. 5 (Aug. 1898) - v.3, no. 14 (May 1899). Henri Louis Grien (or Grin) claimed to have lived among aboriginal Australians, and although the publisher realized by the fifth instalment that the narrative could not be genuine, and warned readers, it was nonetheless carried on to the conclusion.
