Hát bội, dờn ca tài từ và ca̓i lương

The history and development of hat boi (classical Vietnamese opera), don ca tai tu and cai luong (southern traditional music) from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, and how the traditional genres and the artists performing them were showcased to the world at fairs in Paris and Marseilles. Includes excerpts of musical scores, notably for a don ca tai tu work "Vu khuc Dong Duong" (Danse de l'Indo-chine/The Indochinese dance) which was used as the musical background for a dance by renowned French artist Cléo de Mérode in the early 1900s.
