About
John Carter (1835-1879) was born in St. Agnes, Cornwall, England. he was born into a mining family and started work in the mines when he was twelve years old. In 1856 he married Mary Rogers and they immigrated to Australia with his family. He lived for a number of years in Goonown where he was a merchant and Methodist exhorter.
