About
This book is "...designed specifically for those who want to read German, not speak or write it." It consists of 21 progressive readings adapted from contemporaneous newspapers, periodicals, and books. After each reading, the related grammar and vocabulary is explained. The author doesn't attempt to present German grammar "in its entirety" but to "make the subject matter available to the English reader" as directly as possible. The book also contains 20 supplementary reading passages, a vocabulary list, a pronunciation guide, and some useful tables and charts for reference.
