Metropolitanregion Zürich - Der Zürichsee als Projekt

"Zürich, die grösste Metropolitanregion der Schweiz, hat in den letzten 30 Jahren immer neue Gebiete erschlossen. Die Stadt hat sich dabei zu einem Ballungsraum mit grosser Dynamik entwickelt. Als Metropolitanregion hat er eine starke internationale Ausstrahlung und eine dichte, weitreichende Vernetzung erlangt. Anders als die klassische Grossstadt verfügt Zürich aber nicht mehr über eine klare Form und Grösse. Denn in Wirklichkeit wird das Gebiet durch Grenzen von Kantonen und Gemeinden zerschnitten und zerfällt in kleinräumige Organisationsformen: De Metropoitanregion is ein gross organisierter Raum, der klein gedacht ist. Ist es möglich, Zürich nicht nur gross zu organisieren, sondern auch grösser zu bauen? Können wir uns eine Metropolitanregion vorstellen, die nicht nur grossräumig handelt, sondern auch in grossen Stadträumen wahrgenommen wird? Diese Studie versucht anhand eines paradigmatischen PRojektes die städtebaulichen Potenziale einer grösser gedachten Stadt auszuloten. Der Zürichsee als dominantestes Landschaftselement der Region bildet symbolisches Mitte und integrative Hintergrundfigur des Vorschlags.
