La Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación y Humanidades de Cuenca acogió durante los días 27 y 28 de octubre del año 2000 el I Encuentro Literatura Infantil y Universidad, y que, con el título concreto de ’La Literatura Infantil en el siglo XXI’, organizó el CEPLI (Centro de Estudios de Promoción de la Lectura y Literatura Infantil) de la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. Este libro ofrece aportaciones de la mayoría de los ponentes en el Encuentro citado, así como otras de especialistas que participaron en los diferentes debates: en total quince autores (Jaime García Padrino, Antonio Mendoza, Ma Victoria Sotomayor, Pedro C. Cerrillo, Fernando Martos, Veljka Ruzicka, Ana Pelegrín, Dolores González Gil, Pascuala Morote, Cristina Pons, Teresa Colomer, Amando López Valero, Ramón F. Llorens, Antonio Mula y Eloy Martos), que firman trece trabajos que se agrupan en dos partes: la primera dedicada a Teoría, crítica e investigación de la Literatura infantil; y la segunda a Nuevas tecnologías y Didáctica de la Literatura Infantil. Al final, se han incluido las conclusiones del propio Encuentro.
