A History of Wales from Earliest Times to the Edwardian Conquest was originally published in 1911 and was the first survey of the history of early Wales ever compiled.Prior to this work information was scattered among various fragmented manuscripts, typical in Latin or Welsh. Whether from the writings of Roman historians or the records of the Welsh oral tradition, the majority of ancient manuscripts combined history with myth, intermixed with rumor, rarely attempting to separate or distinguish between them.In his History, Lloyd took on the task of sorting through and validating this voluminous information.
