A little girl’s world shatters when her parents split up. Left to see her mother only for short visits, the girl often cries herself to sleep. But when her father marries another woman, everything changes for the girl. One day, after her mother and stepmother argued, the little girl’s mother disappears what seems like forever. Now in the care of her strict stepmother, the girl daydreams about her mother all the time. She searches for her in the grocery store. She thinks about her when she eats her cereal. She cries for her when she is alone. Sadly, the little girl must face the realization that her mother may never come back. With no one to turn to for help, the girl soon finds comfort in the beauty of the natural world as the trees, flowers, and ocean inspire her to live with joy, dance, and dream again.
