The present document responds to requests made by the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ) of the General Assembly and the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) of the United Nations Secretariat. The purpose of the document is to provide an overview of the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system of ESCAP, including policies and guidelines, as well as fact sheets and tools; and promote coherence in the regional commissions approach to M&E in accordance with the recommendations of ACABQ. The M&E system of ESCAP aims to facilitate: more effective results-based management (RBM); improved institutional learning; and strengthened accountability.
