A collection of Thomas Harrison Hair's watercolours of the Great Northern Coalfield. Forty-two watercolour and ink drawings depicting mining scenes throughout the North East of England executed between 1828 and 1842 approximately. These drawings were preparatory works for illustrations (etchings) for a book written by T H Hair entitled 'Views of the Collieries in the Counties of Northumberland and Durham', published in 1844.
