8vo. pp. viii, 105. Cloth.
Compiled around 1200, the Leges Anglorum collects genuine (and some spurious) early English laws. It also includes a mythical account of King Arthur’s northern conquests (Vinland, Greenland, the North Pole, etc.). According to the forward, the 1626 edition of Henry Spelman’s Glossarium Glossarium archaiologicum expresses (the first?) doubts about the integrity of the Leges (see Bib# 4102721/Fr# 168 in this collection for the 1664 edition).
