About
This reference work is an introduction to antique Dutch silver miniatures illustrated with superb photographs. More than five hundred and fifty miniatures of the highest quality are presented in this book, together with twenty-seven full-sized silver objects on which some of them were modelled. All derived from the archives of A. Aardewerk Antiquair Juwelier of The Hague and illustrated on 288 pages. Items that have passed through the hands of this renowned antiques firm reveal the passion for silver miniatures in the Netherlands during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Each chapter examines top quality works in this field, accompanied by explanations of occupations and objects that have passed into history and the way some of these wonderful things were used. Exhibition: Museum Bredius, the Hague, the Netherlands (11.10.2011-15.1.2012).
