And that's what this book is about, which includes 10 chronicles about 11 characters and, among other attributes, has one key, which the author himself points out in the introduction: overcoming the tendency to turn the migratory phenomenon into mere statistics to, rather, stand out Individual stories, unique, sometimes extraordinary. These stories of foreigners who arrived in Peru start in certain cases of collective dramas (such as the crisis in Venezuela that forces a barber to separate from his family) and in others the simple personal circumstance (love is a motif that is repeated, for example, in a Russian swimmer and a Palestinian refugee, both married at the time with Peruvians). The chronicles of Llosa Vélez (solid storyteller who now changes to the non-fiction record) are marked by the daily detail, the strange gesture, the sometimes distrustful look towards the other. Whether it's the language, the economic conditions and even the weather, the migration experiences it gathers always imply a difficulty, a challenging obstacle. But, at the same time, they open a loophole so that they take on selfless solidarity and the hope of an increasingly integrated world.
