When being eaten alive is the least of your problems... My name is Scarlett. My job is to kill and I am damn good at my job. I have just turned seventeen. For my birthday, my friends welded custom made knuckle dusters to my favourite Katana, which I then used my Katana to cut the head off a human-eating monster. Best. Day. Ever. From the day I was born, every waking moment of my life has been dedicated to learning how to kill the millions of monsters that occupy England. What's left of humanity lives behind a fifty-foot high wall, and my friends and I protect those that are left alive. I love my life. I love my friends. And I love my job. If only it could stay that way. We are ruled over by the order known as 'The Verity'. They rule with cruelty, violence and threats of banishment if ever disobeyed. We're told who to love. Who to kill. When to eat and when to die. When I'm ordered to give up what and who I love most, I make an impossible choice and start on a road that leads me to a terrible truth. That the Verity has a far darker agenda for humanity than any human-eating monster could ever have.
