There Is a Tide

PROLOGUE In the late Fall of 1973, a dangerous plan was conceived to rescue Dan Rivera, a famous resistance fighter imprisoned in Cuba by Fidel Castro after the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1961. The plan is spawned after Dan's son Tom and his best friend Mike find a dead publisher's small fortune hidden under a shed at a campground in the Ocala National Forest. With help from two former Green Berets, they launch a secret mission to cross the Straits of Florida and rescue Tom's father from a prison near Havana. A deadly shootout back in the Forest and a violent nighttime encounter with a Cuban gunboat ensue. The mission succeeds, mostly, but no one escapes unscathed. That story is chronicled in the first installment - NORTH UNTIL DAWN. Castro is determined to punish Rivera and his rescuers for the international embarrassment they caused him. Tom and his father, accompanied by Vietnamese refugee Hoa Duc Nguyen, are pursued by Castro's henchmen into the heart of the Forest, the pursuit culminating in a ground and aerial assault on the campground itself! With help from friends, they evade and finally turn the tables on their attackers. Their story ends abruptly with the threat of prosecution for defending themselves!
