About
The book edited by researchers Thomas Calvo and Paulina Machuca - both members of the project "Proyecto Vencer la distancia" (Overcoming the distance) - comprises the participation of fourteen specialists in the discipline of social sciences. "If the Philippines and Mexico had had very close relationships in the two and a half centuries that the Manila Galleon was sailing (1565-1815), the relations diluted when Mexico chose Independence and the Philippines continued under Spanish domain until 1898. It was precisely these years of disagreement that we were interested in: like all the periods of intermediation and reflux, they are moments of maturity and reflection, which always have heuristic virtues.' --Page 37.
