About
Collection of life poems by Barbara OpreaScarlet Ribbons:I was such a fragile child, so timid and so shyAnd life would oft times frighten me and make me want to cryBut night-time came and Daddy, how comforting you'd beAnd the day's door closed so gently when you'd come and sing to meYou'd stand beside my bedside and look down on my faceThe memory of your gentle form the years cannot eraseYou sang to me and as you sang you lifted every careFor you sang of scarlet ribbons, scarlet ribbons for my hairAnd though a thin and tousled child lay curled in the bedAnd wispy locks of tangle hair covered then my headYour eyes looked on a princess, elegant and fairWith your golden curls and shining face and ribbons in her hairNow I'm grown and you are gone, how could you slip away?I held your hand in futile hope that I could make you stayBut though death stilled your loving voice, your song I'll always wearOf those lovely scarlet ribbons you imagined in my hairNow days roll into years and years roll swiftly byThe time will come when I will bid this tired world goodbyeAnd when the Lord allows it, your face again I'll seeAnd Daddy, I'll wear scarlet ribbons so you will know it's me-Barbara Oprea
