The Truants

'The Truants' is a razor-sharp tale of ancient bloodlust and vampirism, set across the looming tower blocks and graffitied stairwells of 21st century Britain. Grown tired of his solitude, the last of the 'old-ones' - immortal beings unable to withstand the light of the sun - takes his place on a park bench to wait for the burning dawn, when he is stabbed by a desperate young mugger. Come the sun's rays the old-one incinerates. Terrified and injured, his assailant scurries back into the council estate's feral underbelly with the monster's essence seared into the knife's edge. When the knife draws blood again and again the soul of the old-one awakens within each new victim, powerlessly trapped but for whispering in the corners of their minds. With his consciousness divided across so many vessels he is determined to regain control by destroying the knife. But as the body-count rises and the city faces a monstrously unnatural uprising, it becomes clear that someone is trying to stop him...
