About
This volume describes the general area of dynamic stability as applied to structures. Because this is a very broad field, several uses and interpretation of the term exist. The author attempts to deal systematically with the different classes of structural systems. In the first four chapters, models covering every basic system are described and developed. The remaining chapters deal with applications to structural elements and systems such as the two-bar simple frame, the shallow arch, the shallow spherical cap, and finally with applications to beams and bars. At the end of the first few chapters a problems section is included, to be assigned when the book is used as a text. At present, no other book covers this field comprehensively and the book should be an important reference and very useful to researchers and engineers.
