Depuis près de deux siècles, le Théâtre de Liège rythme la vie culturelle de la Cité ardente. Pour célébrer dignement la réouverture au public après restauration, Frédéric Marchesani, historien, livre au lecteur un travail de synthèse consacré à l'histoire du bâtiment, mais aussi de l'institution lyrique que celui-ci abrite. Dans sa démarche de recherche basée principalement sur des sources totalement inédites, l'auteur a également sollicité des architectes la rédaction d'un chapitre consacré aux travaux de restauration, le tout richement illustré par de nombreux documents d'archives et par les photographies de Guy Focant, Photographe au Département du Patrimoine du Service public de Wallonie.
