About
The Russian Revolution was a defining moment of the twentieth century, creating one of the two countries that would come to dominate most of the world politically, economically, and culturally by the second half of the twentieth century. In early November 1917 Lenin called for a Bolshevik Revolution that would establish the first proletariat state. Soon Russia was gripped in the throws of Civil War as the Bolsheviks tried to maintain control in the face of foreign invasions and domestic opposition. Here is a view of these events through the eyes of a European-born Socialist.
