"Escaping the Holocaust while his parents and younger siblings perished in its horror, Hirsch recounts his years of growing into adulthood during the pivotal time of the Korean War. While in the US Army, Hirsch never went to Korea but made his way to Germany instead, a road that would lead him to the realization of the fate of his parents and younger siblings.
